Why we love it: Fanny packs are, in fact, back in fashion. This time, though, they've been given a slightly more, well, fashionable name: belt bags.
The hands-free handbags have been spotted on street-style stars and celebrities in a wide array of colours, shapes and sizes. Plus, pretty much every major fashion house — including "it" brand Gucci — has released its own update on the style.
We're loving this Canadian-made model from the newly Vancouver-based brand Sonya Lee. Dubbed the Jess Belt Bag, the style features vegetable-tanned leather and an adjustable waist strap with a buckle for easy on-off application.
The interior of the petite purse features smooth suede and has a magnetic closure and silver-toned hardware. In addition to the black snakeskin pictured here, the Jess bag is also available in smooth black leather and snakeskin print in a rust hue.
We're partial to the idea of pairing this sleek bag with jeans and a T-shirt for a trendier take (throw on a blazer to receive extra style points!), then really shake things up by pairing the belt bag with an accordion-pleat midi skirt and tank or, even better, worn belted over a dress.
